The Vintage Club

"Promoting the future by preserving the past"

Our mission is to actively promote and demonstrate the spirit of speedway through the preservation of vehicles and related memorabilia.

We are a group of speedway enthusiasts who come from a range of speedway backgrounds (drivers, riders, crew members, officials and spectators) to ensure that the history of speedway in our region is not lost.  

Many of our members have restored or purchased historic vehicles.  We hold a series of events each speedway season when club members and invited guests are offered the opportunity to experience the joy of taking their vehicles on the track in a non-competitive environment.  We also participate in a number of local events throughout the year where we willingly hold a static display of a range of vehicles for the public to observe and reminisce up close.

Our club meets bi-monthly at the Hornby Club, Christchurch, where a short meeting is held followed by appropriate entertainment such as guest speakers, club footage on the big screen, or simply a round-the-room discussion on club members’ projects.

Our club does not have its own track but is extremely grateful to the team at Ellesmere Speedway who regularly offer us opportunities to use their track, and who provide the necessary support to ensure that the track is in perfect condition for our varied and dated vehicles.

We are always keen to receive invitations to other tracks in our region and welcome invitations for static displays at appropriate events in the area.

Owning a vehicle is certainly not a prerequisite for joining our club and we welcome all new members with an interest in vintage speedway from any perspective.  Anyone interested in joining our club should contact one of our committee members for more information.
